Video Transcript: "Maintain a Mindset of Abundance" A SpendLessTV.com Original video from Marie Forleo:

Hi there! This is Marie Forleo with an Exclusive for Spend Less TV, and today we're going to be talking about how to maintain a mindset of abundance, even during tough times.

You know I think for all of us, no matter where we are in our lives, what we're doing professionally, personally, in our businesses, whatever's happening with our bank account we all can identify with the feeling of being scared and having the feeling of scarcity, especially when it comes to money.

Thankfully, there are some things that we can do and some actions that we can pro-actively take no matter what's happening around us, to actually maintain an abundant mindset and really strengthen it. So here are some things that I just like to do that are easy, they're actionable, and they really work.

So the first thing I want to talk about is, if you ever find yourself in a place of fear, or you find yourself worrying about money, or I, you know, don't know how I'm going to get all this done. . . one of the best things that I do for myself is literally to make a list of what I appreciate in my life, what I am thankful for. You know it could be as simple as the fact that I have two eyes, and two legs, and I can walk, and I'm happy, and I have a roof over my head. You know I've certainly had times in my life when I didn't know how I could pay the mortgage, or how I could pay my rent, or how things were going to come together, and I realize that in any given moment I could either be up here in my head, in worry zone, or I could be out engaged in the moment and realy pay attention to what I do have, and build on that.

So if you want to make this quantifiable and you want to make it even more concrete I would suggest to you get out a piece of paper or a pad and go for twenty things that you're thankful for. Again, whether it's the fact that you have milk in the fridge, that there's somebody that loves you, that you have a job, that you are healthy, you know, any thing that you can think of. Of course if you want to go beyond twenty, that would be awesome, but getting twenty down really starts to get your mind thinking in a different way and has a way of making you appreciate exactly what's happening in your life right now, so you can create more of that.

The second action step that you can take to maintain a mindset of abundance is to turn off the news. You know people joke about CNN, about it's constantly being negative news. And for me I can turn on the television and there's all sorts of dramatization and they're always looking for the spin to make it more dramatic and to make it seem like the world is falling apart. And we all have 24-hours in the day and you're going to spend it either absorbing those kind of messages or you're going to spend it creating value.

So, if you have a job, it's about looking for ways that you can create more value for your employer, and thereby create more value for the clients and the customers that you serve.

If you happen to be an entrepreneur and you own your own business: how can you take even more excellent care and "wow" the people that you serve? How can you create new products and services that create more value in the world, thereby creating more value in terms of monetary compensation for you?

So, if you ever find yourself feeling a little shaky and you look around and there's lots of newspapers or magazines or the television is going "wa wa wa wa wa" and it's all kinds of negative stuff, turn that sucker off and get yourself into a mode of creation. And if you don't feel like you can create, even have some fun! You know, if you can play some music, do a little happy dance, spend time with your kids, or your wife, or husband, or anything that will help bring joy into your life in that moment, ah . . . it will actually kick into strategy #1, you'll start feeling grateful and you'll start to reverse that whole cycle of scarcity and lack.

And finally, and this is one of the best things that I love to do if I'm ever in a place of feeling scarcity or lack: I take a look at whatever I'm feeling fear about, whatever I'm feeling I don't have enough of because from a spiritual place because there really is no such thing as lack. We really do all have enough and everything can come from within. It's only our mind that tricks us into thinking that there's not enough. So what I like to do is get right into action and to start give away that which I feel I'm lacking. So you know, as a simple example: if I ever look into my closet and I feel like I have nothin' to wear, you know, I kind of can't stand all my clothes, and I don't have anything. . . bap bap bap bap bap . . . What I'll do is literally take everything out, throw it on the bed, and then take everything that I no longer wear, that's in good shape but it's just not "me" anymore, and I'll give it to Good Will.

At the same time, if I'm ever feeling a scarcity around money, one of the action steps I like to take is, I go to a site called, kiva.org and it's the world biggest and first micro-lending site. You can take as little as $25 and lend it to an entrepreneur somewhere around the world to help them grow and develop their business thereby bringing more prosperity into their life to feed their family, to educate their kids. And I know for me, just $25, I can always get together $25. It really reminds me that there is enough.

And when you focus on giving away that which you feel you're lacking, again, you're not operating from your mind and you're actually engaged in the present moment, you literally train yourself in the reality that there is enough, that you do have enough and everything is going to be okay.

So, hopefully these tips have been helpful for you; I certainly enjoyed sharing them with you. I'd love to hear your feedback. If you want to come say, "Hi" to me and learn more to can visit marieforleo.com.
